N16 1.5 Sport???

Ok, while having a look around at almera's i'm still considering an N16, as well as an N15 SRi. was down at the Tyneside Autoparc today, and while my mate picked up his New Izuzu Trooper as a second car to his Mitsi GTO, noticed a blue N16 for around £3500, so had a look, no model badge on the back, no indication what it was.

Asked one of the sales persons, if it was the 1.5 or 1.8 and also what trim level it was, they said they think it was the 1.8 but took me into an office to check, it turns out its a 1.5 Sport, not S, but Sport according to the Reg Form, i didn't think they did a Sport version of the 1.5, am i right into thinking this and is it a S that has been wrongly interpted as a Sport?

Thnx

hmmm, thnx tis just the log book says sport, but is only a 1.5, lets see if i can use that 2 lower the price down, as it wont have the sport spec

it might a limited edition, I didnt think they made just a "sport" anyway, just a "sport+" with the QG18

EDIT: I stand corrected. they did make a sport and sport plus with the 1.8. No 1.5 sport listed though. Still could be a dealer spesh. Best thing is to check out the spec on it and compare.

aye thats what i think i'm gonna do, anyone got the full spec for both the Sport and S models? tried what car, but it comes up with No data for most of it

My mate at work claims his 2000(W-Reg) N16 is a '1.5 Sport'.

two-slat spoiler, heavy black tints on windows, black boot handle/lock strip (mines is colour coded), otherwise looks identical to my 1.5E (on the outside at least). He doesn't know if any of that was added by previous owner, though and no badge to say what it is.

well this has no badge on back either, but also has no spoiler, no tinted windows (tis a 5dr), didn't notice if the boot handle was colour coded tho

ok, went down to see the car again today, to check the spec of the car against a 1.8 Sport spec, they aint the same, no front fogs on the 1.5, which were standed on the 1.8.

Told the sales people, who are adament its a Sport. and got the logbook out, along with an HPI check.

and according to both, its a Almera 1.5 Sport, but something i noticed as well, was that both also say its a saloon, which its not. Checked the chassis numbers and they match.

Is there any way of decoding the chassis number? did Nissan code all the car details into it? Eg Model, Trim, and engine? i know some companies do, just not sure if Nissan do.

Yeah there is, there was a thread about it but dunno where that has gone now. someone will know where it is.

is that bout Nissan FAST?

just tried a few online ones, but keep saying the VIN is invalid, or the check digit is wrong
