N16 rear disc pads

What a load of old tosh Haynes is.

Renewed my rear pads and faffed around as instructed by Haynes to no avail. They tell you remove lower calliper bolt, unclip handbrake cable and swing calliper up. No way is that going to work!

I simply removed both calliper bolts and slid calliper off.
 
Last night I done the very same thing to my n16 amazing. I used a pipe grips to wind the piston back in, and i broke off one side of the anti-rattle backplate because the fit was a little tight and I like it loose because I live dangerously.

That's one of the reasons I changed my pads. I noticed one backplate was corroded and distorted to such an extent part of the backplate was missing from where it fitted in the calliper, causing it to be canted over. They still had 4mm of friction material, but at £17 for Ferodos from my local factor I considered it not worth re-fitting them.
