I've just bought some clear side indicators for my N16 phase1 but they have to be modified to be connected up (but they fit into the bodywork fine). Is this normal? And I'm not quite sure how to go about this. Can anyone help please?

Pics of the indicators I bought:

sorry just clocked onto ur question.

you need to do some soldering at the car end (where the leads are) u need to cut the leads off and solder them with other cables.

Thanks guys. Looks like a trip to Maplin might be in order then :D

When i got my smoked one put on my car they had to use a still saw type thing and cut the mounting off of the old and new ones and join them with spoiler sealant. The guys who done it made a bit of a c*nt of it though and burst the seal a tiny bit!

You Can Use The Stock Bulbholders With These, Don`t Cut The Old Ones Off!!!!

NONONONONONONO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are Micra connectors (says so on the back of the packet)!!! (if you`d searched, you`d find I had the same problem)

I`ve also had a hunt for pics, but can`t find any, (probably because i didn`t take any @ the time)

This maybe a long post, so I appologise in advance!

You don`t need to cut the stock connectors off!!!

This I what I did to get mine on.

The only thing you need to buy is a roll of insulating tape!

This is what you do:

1) remove micra connector from repeater body, remove bulb from holder

2) remove the little black rubber ring (water seal) from the bulb holder & discard bulbholder

3) refit ring into repeater body (just push it in)

4) remove stock repeater body & swap the bulbs (new bulb goes into socket still on car)

5) push stock bulbholder/connector into new repeater body as far as it will go

6) remove connector from repeater body (you should now have 2 black rings on the bulbholder,-original & new- about 2-3mm apart)

7) apply insulating tape to the connector over the 2 rubber rings (to keep them in place) then move up to the cable & fit connector to repeater body & tape them together (go round @ least twice to make it completely wartertight)

8) connect lens body to front wing

9) repeat for other side of car

That`s it, job done. (I`ve had mine on for about 6/7 months & had no probs with them)

If you do need to change a bulb, take off the tape & just repeat steps 6 & 7 afterwards. :)

I hope that all made sense! ;)

Thanks for reading.

That's great Almera guy, cheers for that! I did have a search around the forum but tbh couldn't find anything that specific. But it's gotta be clear for everyone to see now :)

Thanks again.

Right, I just fitted my clear repeaters with chrome bulbs, worked a treat thanks Almera Guy :), and... I was expecting to have to de-globe my indicators as well but after removing them, I found that I just had to swap out the orange bulb for my chome ones! Easy!

I did have a thread in Newbies from when I started on this forum but it seems to have gone, so pics will follow in a new thread for my car ;)

Watch out if you bought your chrome bulbs off ebay - mine went red after a month and failed its MOT because of...

If i were you i'd fork out the extra money for dearer OSRAM bulbs - might be dearer but will be of better quality
