N16

On the forums when noticed nobody mentions whether its the Mk 1(2000-2002) or Mk2 (2002-2006) as the Mk1 had different headlights and front bonnet. Are they both the same? If so why isnt there a 1.8 from 2002 on?

Phase 1 has a different
front bumper
rear bumper
front grill mesh is different
front and rear lights
and slightly different interior
Fiat Punto type rear wiper

I am not too sure about the hood

I prefer the phase 1 not a fan of 2nd facelifted one. Did the phase 2 have built in Sat Nav? When we got ours it was a £1,200 option. Regret not getting it anyone know where I might get one from now? It goes on top of the centre concole.

Happenin Zee welcome to the forum

To reiterate or extend on what Darren was saying here's the main differences: -

Phase 1 Front End (i'll use my shoddy N16 as an example)

FrontOver-1.jpg

Phase 2 Front End (nicked from Google Images)

And here's another comparison

Phase 1 Rear End (again my shoddy example)

And a Phase 2 Rear End (again another one nicked from Google Images)

And there are Phase 2's with 1.8's, i've just done a search locally on autotrader clicky

And iirc the Phase 2 1.5's put out bout 98hp whereas the Phase 1's only gave 90hp (manufacturer claims) however i'm not 100% on this - i'm sure some of the other guys here who work for Nissan will be able to confirm this.

And with regard's to your Sat Nav question, i've got a copy of Nissan FAST (Electronic Parts Catalogue Software - basically a load of pics of parts) and by the looks of things both systems are different (Phase 2 had it built in whereas the Phase 1 system worked similar to the pop up lid you've probably got the now) So you'd need the following: -

Part: Sat Nav Display Unit
Part No: 28090-5M500

Part: Lid Cluster (bit where the pop up lid covers)
Part No 1: 68260-BM410 (Black)
Part No 2: 68260-BM411 (Grey)

Part: Sat Nav Head Unit
Part No 1: 25915-5M511 (MY Jan '00 to Jul '00)
Part No 1: 25915-5M512 (MY Jul '00 to Aug '01)
Part No 1: 25915-5M513 (MY Aug '01 to Oct '01) - What these variences i haven't a clue
Part No 1: 25915-5M514 (MY Aug '01 to Feb '02)
Part No 1: 25915-5M516 (MY Feb '02 to Aug '02)

Part: Sat Nav CD-ROM (Maps)
Part No: 25920-5M560

Part: Sat Nav CD-ROM (For Programming)
Part No 1: 25920-5M001 (MY Jan '00 to Jul '00)
Part No 2: 25920-5M002 (MY Jul '00 to Mar '01)
Part No 3: 25920-5M004 (MY Mar '01 to Feb '02)

Part: Sat Nav GPS Aerial
Part No: 25975-4M400

Part: Sat Nav Sub Harness
Part No 1: 24036-BM600 (MY Jan '00 to Dec '00)
Part No 2: 24036-BM610 (MY Dec '00 to Dec' 01)
Part No 3: 24036-BM620 (MY Dec' 01 to Aug '02)

And probably a shed load of other bits ALONG with the every friendly NATS system either needing reprogrammed or indeed replaced with "to be programmed" parts and for that kinda money you've probably got a deposit on a new car.

You'd be better off getting an aftermarket one, for example a Pioneer one with the motorized screen for an equal amount of money or less

Clicky

Hope that answers your question :thumb:

Thanx every1 for your hints and tips esp Tall Paul for pointing intresting stuff out I prefer the phase 1 (sorry guys wiv Phase 2 models!) I think Nissan spoilt a good thing wiv the headlights, WHY people at Nissan, WHY WHY WHY take the best part of the car and screw it up. The Phase 2 had a sharper brighter beam and tail lights you could see across the Atlantic. They were bit like the Astra (the shape before the latest one on sale) but dimming em down destroyed the cars appeal IMO (Like it really matters!) :D :D :D

Thanx TallPaul for your advice on Sat Nav, I am seriously considering TomTom Go instead coz alot of my mates have em and you can link them up to have some serious fun!!! :P :P :P

If I could borrow your expertise please Tall Paul I would really like to add a spoiler, but I want a genuine one for not alot of money, any ideas? I also want to add the Sport + 16" alloys. Ebay doesnt do alot of 'Mera stuff and the I am not allowed at the Nissan dealers around my place.

While I have your attention, how much is a level 2 service inc VAT at a Nissan dealers? They charged us for a level 3 service which Dear old mumsy paid for (BTW its her 'mera I just care for it on her behalf!) but I am trying to get refunded because she had a level 3 service last year and has barely covered 4000 miles since.

Don't know if i'd use the word expertise but anywho :D a genuine spoiler for not a lot of money is a bit liek saying to a hooker a want a bj but i ain't paying for it (in other words unlikely)

You can get the both types (both the Sport+ one and the accessory one the baz666 on here has) from eBay however one of the guys went down that route and he had an awful lot of bother getting the damn thing on (think it was something to do with quality of the part or the bonding of it to the car)

Anywho like anything with modifying you have a YPFWYG principle (You Pay For What You Get) - pay little, get little - spend a lot, get a bit more.

In my honest, personal opinion the N16 suit one of the following alloys: -

OZ Superturismo GT's (i've got these)
OZ Ultraleggera
Volk Racing TE37 (Would kill for these)
or indeed
Momocorse GTR in chrome

I'd spend the extra on these rather than the Sport+ style alloys...

I'm curious as to why you're not allowed at the Nissan dealers around your place - something you ought to tell us? :P

And as for servicing, it varies as wide as types of women - it all depends on where that determines the price...

some of the phase 2 N16's come with sat nav not all. the S's Se's and Flare and some other models did not come with sat nav the SVE and DCi came with sat nav I think. I don't think there sat nav is the best anyway as its still loads on disk can costs a lot of money to upgrade the disk.
