N16 vibrating at 3000rpm

Hi ! :)

I bought a new almera sedan 1.5 and I would like to know if
anyone's got the same problem. Everything is fine and smooth except when
engine is running about 3000-3200 rpm, then this annoying vibration starts.
It's there with every gear, but because I drive (most of time) economically and thereby use large gears, it is bothering me when I drive about 100-120 km/h with 5th gear. And I drive 85% of the time that gear and speed, so it
really is annoying  The vibrating doesn't appear if the car is stopped.

I took the car back 2 times to the dealer, and they searched for the problem
for 2 days. They have never heard about this problem before (so they said),
in 2 different dealerships. Second time I went there to pick my almera I test drove it with a mechanic, and he felt the vibration also, but then I told them that if they got an other Almera with same engine, and it had the same problem, then I would accept it as a characteristic, not a defect that must be fixed. And they got one, which I tested and it had the same problem, and otherwise it was worse than mine too. I didn't feel this problem in the one I tested before I bought it, because I tested it in a different dealership.

Any ideas ?

sounds like something needs tightening up, go round all the nuts and screws and make sure they are all done up and that there is nothing loose anyway.

Thanks for quick answers :)

is it there when u floor it?
I would like to say no, but I'm not sure, I'll have to test it again. It seems that sometimes it's worse and sometimes better. Yesterday I "had to" go for 140-150km/h for a km, and there was some vibration above 3200rpm, but I'm sure it came from the tires.
But after it vibration at 3000-3200 was maybe worst ever. That's why I remembered to post it here...

engine mount??

The manager of the mechanics (from the dealership I didn't buy it from and haven't tryed to find the problem) testdrove it with me and he said that he had N16 (1.8,not 1.5 like mine !) and he never had that problem and he has never heard about it. But he felt it with 3rd gear (townspeed...) and he was seemingly surprised and he thought it might be a engine mount. And I
told that to dealer (at the other dealership) before they tryed to find the problem 2nd time. And after "service" they
said they checked engine mounts and there was nothing wrong with them.
They never told me what they did to the car, but the manager that testdrove it called to the other dealership and he said to me that they have done A LOT already, and that was just the 1st time... Then I heard that they had also balanced tires again and checked that anything isn't loose.

They did that when they inspected it for 2 days. And because it is not related to speed but it is related to rpm I guess it is not that kind of problem.

Is there possibly somekind of "self-adjustable setting" (or something like that if you know what i mean) in the engine in that rpm-range that could cause this problem ? Or could it be a gearbox problem ?

I thought it by myself before I went to pick it up 2nd time, that I'd suggest the dealer that they could make it a demo-car (for buyers testdriving) and I could get a new one. Maybe they did that once already because the demo I testdrove after 2nd service had the same problem!
This is really making me mad because I have a long way to work and that's why I bought a new car that it would be reliable and if it's not they'll fix it for free (36 months). I would never had accepted this from a used car, and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed it when testing it before buying. But when I bought a new car I couldn't testdrive the exact car that I was buying.

it's not there when i floor it, well rpm is also over that range when flooring it.

If its under warranty still demand a new car if they can`t fix it. Speak to nissan head office.

Hallo,
i have the same problem with vibration at 3000 rpm! I mount piezo vibrating senzor at silentblock, gear etc. I cannot find vibration source. Have you this vibration problem resolved?

Have you any other idea?

Thank You

Lubos

Hello. I have the same problem(througth others) with my 1,5 Almera.
Is only one way to solve that problem: you have to replace the exaust, at least from middle to rear. For the economic reason I recomend you to change first the middle exhaust, if the vibration still exist then replace and the last(from rear) exhaust.
