NATS Alarm Question and a Hello from Newbie

Hello everyone

Came across this forum after recently buying a 1998 Phase 2 Blue GTi. Lots of useful knowledge here as you’d expect so I’m sure I’ll be hanging around here more often.

The car I have, I bought from a friend as a fun run-about until I get my ‘family’ car.
120k on the clock and still pulls very nicely. Despite owning much faster cars in the past (Honda S2000, Celica GT4, etc) I was very impressed.

I have a few questions for those better educated on these cars than me.

Firstly what is it worth?

Also when I bought the car, it came with two NATS alarm Fobs but they don’t work. I’ve tried changing the batter etc. The light on the fob come on but they don’t seem to do anything. One says ‘master’ on it.

All advice greatly received.

welcome. do a quick search mate. you have to program your fob from the master. you'll find it in the search and it will be in your handbook. its a simple procedure. takes no more than 5mins.

as above. Plenty of instructions if you search other threads.

Found mine a bit tricky to sort (maybe I'm just thick) ! Spoke nicely to a dealer mechanic and he programmed it for free, although they usually charge you about £25 !!!

As for value, depends on condition. P2 GTi with high mileage....about £1000-£1400 only an opinion !

Your lucky to have the 'master' fob i had two normal ones and they both broke i ended up getting a clifford!
 
WE only got one fob, Its green and has TOAD on the front, four buttons open close and two blank ones.

It looks nothing like the one in the manual.

Fantastic! Got the key fob working. Just to check, the master will only unlock the car and doesn’t lock it?

That’s what mine does.

its a aftermarket alarm system.

Is it an ok alarm system do you think? I have seen that others have it installed.

toad are not bad. should be thactham approved too!
