I have an N15 almera. It's a 1.4i Action model. I have been slowly modding for a few months mainly on the interior and have now moved to the outside. I have purchased a set of 17" TSW Razor Alloys and thus beginning work on the exterior!

I just need a little help to get my mind clear on a few things.

1. Lowering springs. Anybody got any recommendations around the £100 mark for set of lowering springs 35mm? I have seen some GMAX ones on dcp-shop.co.uk for the N15. Will these be anygood? Any help/comments appreciated.

2. Backbox. I am after a backbox for my mera. I quite fancy a savage backbox i have seen which is a universal fitment. Just wondering if anybody has got one of these for their mera and if they fit well or not. If not does anybody have any recommendations on a backbox. I am looking for something moderatley loud and noticable to the ear that gives a smooth kinda roar as you accelerate. Any help/comments appreciated again thankyou.

Any help for these 2 concerns will be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

gmax springs are a good choice, but a few people have been sayin that they wont give you too much of a visible drop. im sure Pi do some springs for the 1.4, i have them on my 1.6 and they are quite a visible drop, i paid £110 but you can pick em up for way cheaper.

as for exhaust, universal normally spells trouble, i have got one on mine and its quiet, and was a pain to get on but its do-able. i paid too much for my backbox and its quiet as a mouse, but i dont know about the rage or savage ones, they seem to be a better bet than mine was though lol

that probs wasnt any help at all, and im not very technically minded but at least its sort of a reply lol :D

Cheers mate. I'm gonna go see my mate at my local motorworld and find out about the sound etc. of the backbox. It does say it is tuneable which i think means you can personalize the kinda sound it makes or sumthin like that.

Thanks 4 the info anyways.. anymore help and comments wud be appreciated.

cheers

i've a 1.4 and i put the scorpion gti s/steel cat back system on with no probs its a well flowed system and not too loud it'd be the same volume as whats coming out of the ind kit from smithys the both together do sound well tho!

but bacically anything that fits the 1.6 will fit the 1.4 and as for exhausts anything that'll fit even the gti will fit from cat back

also pi's have dropped mine well but i've a fairly heavy install aswell that helps
but watch out that you get the correct spings there are phase 1 and 2 differences!!

hope this sheds a bit of light on the subject

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, BUY GMAX SPRINGS FOR YOUR ALMERA!!!
Just thought I better make that clear, they are shit, noisy, and have too many coils, infact, they are larger than standard springs  , they make your car higher, poo poo poo pooo(just amke that clearer lol)
as for your back box questions, when you go to powerflow, long life etc etc, all these custom exhaust places, the back boxes they use are universal, they make them fit via fitting correct length and shape hangers and joining exhaust pipe, just like how you would fit an universal exhuast that you buy off the shelf, so the fitting is only as good as the fitter
I would recommend you just go to a local custom exhaust place and get one made up there to your requirements, try and get one recommended

For springs , i can only vouch for PI. Used them on me 1.4 SI (phase 1) & could clearly tell the difference visually & while driving.

Heres the place ive found for pi spring for almera. if you look elsewhere, look at the codes on this site to see which it is. think it goes pi86-208 for mine and pi code for them is 86-208 so once you got the code u can contact everyone and hunt around know exactly the ones you want. hope this helps

most people tend to forget about eibachs, i have em fitted to my 1.4si and have 16" alloys. most of my mates comment on how low it is, when it sits next to their cars, and im proper impressed with the handling too.

if i was to buy springs again it would only be Eibachs, the quality makes them the much better buy, even though they're something like £40 dearer

Yep Eibachs are quality items. They give a comfortable ride with superb handling. They make suspension for F1 cars so they know there stuff.

mods

bit late for this one but it might help someone else,
I have Gmax springs,35mm drop, very noticable with 17" tires. It has better handling capabilities and the arches are buried in the back and the front one has about 2 inches showin.
Also I have a savage 4" backbox, tunable as well, a great screamer in the upper revs and nice in the lower ones. I didnt keep the tunable insert in it as it was a bit too quiet.
would recommend both of these products.
would have got the 5" back box though.
