New Car.

Hi, I have just purchased a 2002 Almera 1.5 s with 108,000 on the clock with two owners and full Service History. It sounds really sweet. The gear change feels a little sloppy but otherwise. What sort of mileage can I expect from the engine. What does the S stand for.

Car designations mean nothing nowadays...except T means turbo and GT is supposed to have a "Grand Touring" designation which doesn't hold.

Welcome to the club.

Watch the gearbox (design flaw in oil filler position means it holds less oil than it should) and timing chain (can stretch and is expensive to fix) but otherwise should be good for another 50k at least if looked after.

S is the trim level, one up from the basic 'E' (for economy?) I think. There should be a list on here somewhere, search for 'trim levels'.
