New clutch and still grinding gears?

Hi all i got an o3 reg 2.2dci with 6 speed man gearbox. its done 57k

about 6 months after buying it started to have problems,
first i had to force it into 1st gear, i had a new master cylinder now goes in smooth,
a month later it starts to grind as i change gear, had new clutch and was smooth for bout 2 months.

Now its only grinding in 2nd & 3rd gear, after a few miles 2nd gear goes smooth, and after about 10 minutes 3rd gear become smooth.

on other days the whole box is smooth straight from cold?

it makes no seense to me if the mesh had gone it would grind all the time and not just odd days when the box is cold.

Any one got any ideas?
any one now how much for new or recon box fitted?

what would you do keep paying out for it? or trade it in for something that doesent have a nissan badge?

cheers Pete

change the Gearbox oil to a thinker shock ressistant type.. if its been grinding for abit then the syncros could be damaged to the point wher eit will always grind..

I could do, but with a moden day 6 speed box ,putting the wrong oil in would do more harm than good i think.
i will take back to mrclutch and ask them what they think tho.

its a gearbox same as every other standard H pattern syncromesh gearbox.. if a skyline box benifits from having better thicker gear oil put in i think the more agricultural almera DCi box will be okay..

i seriously doubt the clutch is at fault. the fact your having to get the box up to tempriture seriously points ant the oil not being up to scratch and not working untill it getts up to temp ..

yeah come on a nissan club site and then slate it? hmm

just because your havin a problem doesnt mean all meras/nissans are shit

IMO get an n15

Ok cheers for that I will look into the oil hopefully this could be a cheap fix. Does anyone know if the gearbox oil is part of the service? Just thinking that anyone else whos car is near the 60k mark might want to think about changing their oil.

I didnt slate nissan or say they wer shit, its just option i am considering because i dont want to pay out for a new box if its going to be silly money.

gearbox oil isnt normally done as a normal service item, so i would definately give that a try first. sounds like the problem to me, and for the cost of changing it has got to be worth a try.
