Hey ya i am a new member and looking for some info on modin a 1.4 si mera n15. Had the car for years and has just been a family work horse as had a civic (now a write off!!!) and had a mk2 golf gti(a beast but too expensive to run!! ) and now feel my mera needs to be tarted up bless her! Have been trying to find bits on ebay and shocked how cheap parts are!!But can only find springs 30mm 35mm and the lowest 40mm drop. Can any one shed any light as want it on its arse on 17"s? And also is it easy to mesh the grill out and on lower frontbumper? Also been looking for some smoked rear lights as not a fan of lex rear lights? Yeah so anyone got any ideas

Hi, firstly welcome to the site.

With lowing springs about a 35mm drop is the best you will manage, you will need coilovers to get any lower and they can be quite expensive. You will easily fit 17" wheels on with no problems at all, all you have to watch for is the width of the wheel as I think I remember reading before that anything much over 7.5" wide may be a bit of a pain (try a search you find out a bit more from other members in previous posts for more info).

Haven't meshed a grill myself but I cant see it being too hard if all you are going to do is put mesh behind it.

As for rear lights there are not any on the aftermarket ones for the N15 Almera. A few people upgrade their rear lights to the phase 2 rear lights but if you want to make the have a smoke effect then your best bet is to get to a motor shop and buy a light tinting kit (there may or may not be a post on here somewhere about it, try a search again and see).

Hope that is of a bit of help for you.

Thanks all for the welcome! All very helpful and friendly cheers!!!! x

I sprayed my rear lights with some tinting spray - either remove the lights from the car or thoroughly mask off the surrounding area and apply thin coats until you are happy with the finish. Then, in order to get a nice sheen to them, apply some regular T-cut and buff to a shine. I tinted my rear lights and the whole process took no more than an hour for both lights. Check my avatar for an idea.

Yeah thats what i want to do i think, but have ya gotta be careful with the old bill? Also with ya MOT? Sounds good idea and looks good one yours mate!

Hey and welcome to the site. There is an even cheaper way to tint your rear lights.......dont laugh......TIGHTS. Just stretch a pair over your rear lights and job done. One of my friends did it to his proton and it looked ok. I know for most the thought of going through there mums, wifes, girlfriends underwear might be out (some might like it), but as you prob own your own set of tights this wont be a problem.

Found a pic of a festa with it done.......

Tinting Rear lights are not illegal but they have to pass a certain light test if they are not bright enough. Also Proton :) (I Love the Satria GTi) :)

Mine passed the MOT no problem and after a year or so haven't attracted any attention from the old bill. As long as the light output is ok I don't think it matters.

A tip - if you find you spray the lights too dark then T-cutting will take some of the layers off and will lighten the tint.

also if you cant be bothered with using elbow grease get some brighter 'wide angle' led bulbs as they'll shine through the clusters better ;)

oh and welcome to the club too
