Hi there folks. Firstly, here are some details of my motor.
Year: 2000
Model: E
Gen: N16 (as far as I can tell)
Engine size: 1497cc petrol
I got my motor in Feb '12 for £950 with 96k on the clock. It has been quite reliable aside from needing a new battery a few months ago. I tend to get about 450 miles out of a full tank which is great. Only bad thing I can say is that it can be a right pig trying to get it to shift into 1st and R, sometime R locks out completely. Oh, and my rear wiper stopped working for no apparent reason, but I think I know what that is as my mother-in-law had the same problem with her Micra.
Now here is something I would like to know. At the beginning of the year I moved out into the country side and there are some nasty roads out here in the snow, I almost came off the road a couple of times. I have lived in Alberta Canada so I am more than experienced at severe weather driving, especially in the snow. The tires were less than six months old at the time and still had plenty of tread on them and they are what I would call 'all season' tires, good for most weather conditions. Does anyone else have problems in the snow or on icy roads? Has anyone tried using full winter tires? (Not the ones that most garages think are winter tires, I've seen those and they are not winter tires, they are all season. I've lived in Canada and know what winter tires look like, stupid garage trying to sell me crap I don't want or need.) I really like my Almera but if I can't get it to behave on the roads in winter then I am going to have to trade it in for something else.
Any tips?
Also, I've never seen the spoiler that I have on any other Almera. Is it after market?
Grenth.
