New Member and owner of 03' Mera' 2.2 Dci sxe

Hi guys just bought a 03' Mera' 2.2 Dci sxe in silver with 72k on for £2350...... any good???
Just had over the pit and serviced it.
Service history stopped at 50k and said it had the timing chains replaced ( thought you never had to?)
Well all the filters were filth so it's healthy again now...
Getting 37mpg average is that normal.
It needs some new tyres aswell but theres 205/55 on the front and 195/55 on the back which should i stick too?
It's pulling to the left slightly so hopefully it's the tracking or balancing and not the been in a prang.
Is there anything i should check?
Cheers guys hopefully you can help!

Welcome - Edk is the man you want to speak to about the 2.2 Dci, but there's always the search facility mate. You'll find a lot of useful info on here :)

37 mpg sounds very low to me, but it really depends on how the car is used (ie. stop-start traffic) & of course how healthy it's running. As for the tyres, well 195/55/16 is standard for the SXE & that's what I'd recommend with standard wheels.

hello :)

nice motor, youll love it :)
id stick with some 205/55's :)

37 mpg is about right id say :)
my girlfriend has one also so does ed :)
he will be along any minute now :)

these cars are def getting more and more popular! :)
soon Gspec will be selling fmic kits and high lift cams + stroker kits

Hey honey I have the same car and 03 model too xx

That is a good price you got it for as mine was dearer but I have lower mileage.

My MPG is 37.5 because I only drive it about 10miles a day and that is on town roads. When you take it out of the town your average will fly up.

I am not too sure on your other questions as I am technically challenged.

I would get some egr? cleaner (Correct me someone please) It is someothing you spray into the engine when you are reving that cleans the (thing? egr) which is very good for your engine) - I have the wrong name but i'll find it for you later xx

Also look at the Nunny meet thread as you live close by and pop along on the Sunday (or all of it) So you can look at the other cars and get all questions answered etc x

hahahah MUSH appreciated xx

Hey and welcome :). As I said in my message to your the EGR cleaning guide should help you out along with using the EGR cleaner the other guys have mentioned.

I got 36-38mpg on mine when I bought it, but these engines liked to be reved. Cleans the copious amounts of carbon deposits out of it. Drive it hard for a month then clean the EGR, then go back to normal driving. Using Shell VPower helps too. I bet you'll find the MPG goes up to 40. Also change your tyres to 195/55 or if you get aftermarket wheels which are wider (7J, although phase 1 sport+ 16" alloys are alose 7J width) then go for 205/50 to get a bit more tyre contact while keeping a standard profile so your speedo wont be thrown off. As it is the 205/55 will add more weight to rotating mass and will be affecting your MPG too.

As Paul says it depends how it's driven. So what sort o jorneys do you do?

I get about 42mpg now and that's with EGR cleaned (and intake manifold, but you'll read about that in the guide I mentioned), custom exhaust and custom intercooler and piping. The exhaust and cleaning helped the most with regard to the MPG.

Also, glad to see you've paid up already :) This will allow you access to a lot of technical advice about the car :thumb: plus loads of discounts and recommended companies to buy from and get services off.

Enjoy the forums :)
