New member needs help!

hi, I'm new here so 1st things 1st, bit about me, 18 year old student about to start university, live in southampton. Now the important bit, the almera. Not my car (drive an A4), but its shared between mum and aunt. From what I've gathered on here its a N16 and I'm pretty sure it's a 1.8 16v engine.

Now the issue, my aunt thinks shes the indian Jenson Button and in a display of her supreme car control, reversed the range rover into the almera. Bad times. Damage is nowhere as bad as I thought it would be, guess the nissan is built pretty strong! The rear drivers side door is dented pretty bad and the paint has gone down to primer and metal in some places. So what I'm looking for, is to buy a door in the same colour and just change them over. I had a quick browse round the car and I think I saw AX5 which looked like a likely candidate for a paint code.

Any ideas as to the best place to get what I'm looking for?

AX5 is dark pearl red so if that sounds right that's the paint code.

Searching the scrap yards is the best bet mate, N16s are pretty common and more and more are ending up in the scrappys. However I don't see that colour often so it may be hard to find a colour matched door.

Could try http://www.breakeryard.com/ http://www.autopartstrader.co.uk/ or http://www.search4carparts.co.uk/ or one of the other sites that sends requests to numerous breakers to see if they have the part you need.

There are two versions of the N16 Almera the 'phase 1' (2001-2003) and 'phse 2' or 'facelift' models (2003-2007). I think the doors should be interchangeable but someone else here should know for sure (easiest way to tell is that phase 2 models have a plastic honeycomb grille between where the front foglights should go).

i laughed at this.

im useless with N16's but hopefully you find your answer.

in the mean time, welcome to AOC

I personally would get a new door and then get it resprayed at a decent place otherwise your going to notice the repairs. go to a decent place and see what they say about the repairs they may be able to repair it.
