New round these parts

Hi, my name is olly, some of you from the MSC forum that upgraded to almeras may remember me from years back. Anyhoo, I recently picked up a 53 plate 1.5 for 200 quid. It benefits from new brakes and boots all round. Runs sweet as anything and I wish I'd bought one years ago.

As with any 200 pound car you can expect a few issues, the main being some tool has ran over the car, boot marks on bonnet, cracked windscreen and 3 dents in roof.

Also the seller told me the CV joint was shot. I drove it 150 miles home, figured the worst that would happen is the joint would let go and I'd lose drive. After getting home the noise was so bad I thought I'd jack her up and check the cv joint out. And there was nothing wrong with it. However the hub nut was finger tight and the wheel had a whole shit load of play all round. So 20 quid later and a new bearing I'll fit this weekend when I build a pulling tool. My norbar only goes up to 150nm so I guess i'll tighten her with a scaffold bar.

Other than that the front crossmember is missing so I guess I'll weld in a new one at some point. And the aircon is empty.

I'll be about from time to time and get some pics up eventually, god it's good to be jap again.

Welcome to the club, good to see you made a good start on tinkering with her
