New Tino owner

Hello, recently bought a 05 1.8 SE tino. Very happy with the car but have a couple of queries, I'm going to do my own servicing and wondered if anyone could tell me if I should use 5w30 semi or fully synthetic oil. I intend to change it every 6000 miles as I think thats long enough for oil to last. Also do you recommend genuine Nissan oil filters or are after market types ok? Finally,I have a very slight high frequency rattle from the gearlever in 3rd and 5th,its so slight that it stops with the lightest of finger pressure on the lever. I don't think its anything too sinister as I understand the transmissions are very robust, but has anyone had maybe a worn bush or other linkage wear. Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

6,000 miles is a good interval for an oil change, and semi-synthetic is recomended by nissan i think. The oil filter is up to you really, as the after market types are fine to use.

As for the gear lever - it seems to be a trait of the N16. Some days it will do it, and some it won't. Does your tend to rattle during heavy acceleraton?

Hope this helps,

Matt
