new to me N16

hi all,
I have tried to read rules for new members but links are down right now.

I acquired a N16 1.5s 3dr all is well but a few snags I was hoping someone could help with. I done a mini service air, oil, plugs chucked in a bottle forte gas treatment, but still in 1st gear slight pull back as though there is a flat spot for fractions of a second.

The drivers door seems as though needs minor adjustment in the bottom left corner slight wear as occurred on the sill and top left is also catching, is it possible to adjust this door?
The car got recalled a while back for headlights, and still don't seem right on main beam the very small round ones are fully lit but the outer which you would expect to be main beam are just lit in side light mode?

Is the hesitation only in first gear? The small projector lenses are your main beam on those lights, the bigger outers are your side light and full beam lenses. There is a small amount of adjustment on the door hinges but it sounds like they are well worn and need replaced.

Thanks, the hesitation is only noticeable in 1st gear
I got it wrong with the lights the small ones are acting as normal headlights (but no blue light in interior) and the outer are in sidelight mode when switch/stalk is in normal night driving.

when you turn the lights to the first position the small bulb in the outer lens will come on - sidelights
when you turn the lights to the second position the projector lens will come on - main beam
when you pull or push the light stalk the large bulb in the outer lens will come on as well as the blue indicator light on the dash - full beam

is this what your car does?

Then its fine :)

The hesitation could be a few things, dirty maf, faulty cps, stretched chain etc but its strange its only doing it in first, does the tach needle pause or jump during the hesitation?

I cleaned the maf (forgot to mention), the mesh came clean but unsure as to the main part as it was quite enclosed and didn't really want to try and crack it open, but still had a good blast of spray. the cps is this the "crank position sensor" if so could you give a bit of detail as to where it is located. Do you happen to know how much to replace this?
I agree about the timing chain but hopefully don't want to have to go there.
the rest of the drive is smooth although now you mention it the acceleration is a bit flat through gears not jerky as in 1st more delayed response....when going from 1st-5th as soon as engaged a gear and accelerate again "fractions of a second delay"
