New to site :)

Hi new to site, like many I made my way here from a google of a jerky rev counter :(

The car is a 02 Almera 1.5 (Cam sensor is chain end)

Not sure if it's the timing chain, had a new air filter, spark plugs and the maf cleaned.

When starting from cold the rev counter is really jerky and the car is hesitant after a few minutes it runs fine and then stays fine, today however it was hesitant when I started it up when the engine was still hot and was hesitant for a long time it then went fine on a motorway run no hesitation what so ever but at the end of the run it started hesitating again then stopped then started again.

EML is not lit when driving but it has a pending code of P0300

Any suggestion's other than check the chain.

Cheers.

P0300 is multiple-cylinder misfire.

Could be caused by all sorts of things. Did you get the new sparks and filter before this started happening or after?

It was already doing it before the change of sparks and filter, been out this morning and it was fine apart from the usual slight hesitation on startup, not sure where to start even troubleshooting it was thinking the crank sensor but if it was would the fault be there all the time?

They look in good condition from what I can tell, is there a test for a coilpack to see if it is failing.

Thanks for the replies much appreciated.

Have been looking over the car again and it appears part of the air duct system is possibly missing, no idea when it went only just noticed potentially it happened when I took it for an oil change a while ago but not sure, there is two pipes which I presume go into it, one off the carbon canister that is hooked up to the side of the maf and another from the clutch that appears to be going nowhere. I have got a picture of a similar engine and wondering if anyone can indentify the part which I presume should be present on mine.
