New to the almera scene

Hi guys, im new to the almera seen after gettin rid of the pug 306. bought my blue gti for 1300quid :), its had two owners from new and only done 50000 miles with fnsh, its a sweet little machine and im totally smitten with it :D. Any help on here would be beneficial as im not a big mechanic, more of a driver. so if any1 people out there wana befriend a 1st timer to the nissan almera scene it would be appreciated as im sure to have lots of questions about my little motor, very soon. Thanks.

1st question... My exhaust is a little rusty, so gonna replace the back box, think im past the loud car stage, had a corsa gsi which fulfilled this for my youth lol, so wondering what size back box would be suitable to maybe increase performance a little if possible and keep the crazy loudness away. Also fill a KnN panel filter be better than the standard panel filter, I would induction it, but as i said i dont really want a loud car. Cheers.

Hi!
If you want it quiet, I`d just stick with oem replacement exhaust parts to be honest.
An aftermarket backbox won`t do a lot on its own for performance...for that you`re looking at changing
the entire system, by which time it will be loud.

cheers, im keeping my eye open. I love the sound of a nice exhaust system but dont want anything too louds, just a nice burble. what size would you recommend?

I had a 2.25" with 2.5" tip, with a big silencer section.
That was easy to live with around town, above 50 it did drone though.
Scorpion did make a backbox that sounded similar as well, these turn up forsale sometimes, although have issues.
Some AOC bods have much louder systems.
Best thing for you would be to get to a meet to hear different set-ups I reckon.

yeah thats a good idea, when do you guys organise meets and how do i find out about these, sorry for being a little slow, im useless with these things.

And i'd heard that a 2.25" was a good exhaust size, so im glad thats been clarified. What do you think about the KnN Panel filter replacement...

Never tried a K+N panel, so I can`t really comment.
Have a gander at the meets section.

It`s well worth signing up as a paid member on here, there really is a wealth of knowledge on everything GTI:)

how much is paid membership, is that why i cant see n15 mods etc? and with the exhaust, your saying 2.25" inlet and 2.5" outlet!!!

he means the diameter of the exhaust is 2.25" and the tail pipe was 2.5". I've got a 3.5" tailpipe on mine and it fits in the P2 GTi bumper nicely without burning it.

HI

was in your area yesterday working at the nissan garage

The van looks ace, you its turbo'd. im guessin the engine is just like the pulsar when its turbo'd, its the same block isnt it??

and after looking at photos on here, it seems my gti hasnt got the correct rear bumper on it, or the side skirts. So i ve just found the skirts and the bumper at a breakers, he wants 25quid for the side skirts and 45 for the rear bumper... is that a good price??

Yeah Scott used the pulsar engine in his :) Some people have turbo'd the original almera engine though.

Welcome!
