New to the Almera World

Hi everyone! :)

My names Roger, and just got my first Almera. It's a 1.6 GX. Nothing fancy, but a new toy to play with. I got an Almera because I like how they look, they handle nicely, they will keep up with most other cars in it's class, and finally only group 7 insurance.

The car done 84K, and came with 15" alloys fitted. Seems to start and drive very nicely, better than my old PUG 205 STDT.

One problem the car does have is a wacky rev counter, anyone here know how to fix?

Also thinking of starting with a few mods, like a decat, induction, and some decent plugs. Just to give her an extra bit of power, any advice or ideas?

Anyway just thought I would post to say hi, and will be having a look round the site to see what's going on with my fellow Almera owners.

Hi mate welcome to the club. Decatting your car alone wont do alot and really is not worth it. Only if you had a stainless steel mainifold and cat back exhaust system. As for induction kit there are a few types you can get alot of people use Piper-cross ones i have on on my GTi and i think its good.

HI

rev counter comon fault, repcement clocks or rev counter to sort it out

UPDATE!

Advice taken on the de-cat pipe, cheers. Here's an update on what I've managed to do with my limited skill with cars.

So far my car has been treated to:

new clocks (£10, and fixing rev counter, THANKS) :D
induction kit (£40)
LED lights in switches and dials (£10)
MOMO gear knob & leather gaiter (£25)
New door locks (£5)
and general odds from the scrap yard.

:( New the problems I've found are:

Heater blower only works on max (I've searched & found the answer to this)
And here's a problem a may need your help with...

The wipers only work on intermittent and constant, but I thought there would be a faster speed after this. When I click to the 3rd notch the wipers just stop, even if in the middle of the windscreen

Can anyone shed light, is it the stalk or a resistor? Also if I'm replacing things is it possible to update to variable intermittent? (and if so does anyone have the parts needed for sale)

Cheers, Roger.

Well my 'mera is a 1.6 GX, only 2 working wiper speeds, but the stalk shows 3? :(

My brothers was (died at 180k) a 1.6 SLX, had 3 working speeds, and the variable intermittent.

I'm sure Nissan didn't only give the lower models just 2 speeds, so something has got to be wrong. Only problem is I don't know where to start. Also if it does involve replacing a few things maybe it was worth upgrading to what the luxury/GTi models have.

Any ideas?

It should have the 3 settings for sure mate.. Check all your fuses/relays.. Other than that there must be a problem with the switch inside the stalk, they are quick and easy to change though.
Joe

I'll pull it apart this weekend I think, and let you know how I get on. Maybe it's time to take another trip to the scrapyard to see if anything there can help.

Cheers, Roger.
