New zorst... needs cleaning

Just picked up a Janspeed Backbox for my GTi, its in perfect condition and I got it for pennies. Just got it fitted thismorning, its nice; gives off a nice tone, not too loud but its subtle and deep, nice to go with the induction kit..

Anyways, Just wondering what products I should clean it up with?? Was gona do this before I had it fitted but couldnt wait to get it put straight on!! lol..

Its good condition, but just wanted to give it a little clean etc...

any ideas??..

dam was thinking about licking it clean likes!! lol :P

Old cloth and use autosol??

Nice 1, sounds good to me lol,

Cheers!!

(ahh p.s also looking at cleaning my engine bay up, any ideas? lol)

engine bay, im not sure really, i think Naylor knows more (or best).
I used halfords engine degreaser spray and then a rag to clean up all the bodywork in the bay. i also waxed it where i could reach. used Peek to clean up the metalwork (a metal polish).

Yeah I was thinking about a new rocker cover, shining up parts of the engine bay, even getting new tubing/leads... ive been meaning to get it serviced aswell, gona get that outa the way before I start cleaning it up I think...

what i use, shines up the exhaust good

NXT All Metal Polysh

New anti-corrosive technology locks in the shine. NXT All Metal Polysh cleans, polishes and protects all wheels, stainless steel exhausts, chrome air intakes and valve covers, aluminium, brass, copper, silver and all other bright-work components. Meguiar’s Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive Technology (MDAT) removes built-up oxidation, tarnishing and staining faster and safer than traditional/harsh abrasives.

i find the meguiars one does give an excellent finish but i think its too gentle, did a few bits on mine under the bonnet and it did take a long time but the finish in the end was excellent, havent tried autosol yet though so cant comment on if its better or not.

under the bonnet a decent steam cleaner would be good, used one on mine but it was only a little cheapo one and didnt really work on anything baked on but the bits that just needed a quick clean come up brilliantly with it. a t-cut like product gets the paint looking something again but im sure there are better ways, if i had the guts to hose it down afterwards i would go for something like autoglym machine cleaner and a brush on everything then hose down and wax the paint work

Engine bay-Degreaser engine cleaner and silicone detailer spray. The silicone spray is a good one for rubber hoses :D .

Use a pressure washer ideally, after the degreaser has set in for say 15 minutes.Just watch electric components and dizzy cover etc...

Also, with the rocker cover,I used a dremmel with 3 different polishing bits and 4 hours of buffing with meguires metal polish(as above) It came out pretty nice as well,I have only needed to wipe it clean to get the shine back. And i did it 15 months ago
As you know it's well worth it to keep the bay lookin nice :) Have fun with it

Heres my bay about a year ago.Added a few bits since then though :D

Naylor advised me to use a wheel cleaner but to be carefull with it, done a small patch and worked well but never finished it off!
