Newbie help with CD player!

hi, my name is chris. this will be my second post on here.

i need some advice with my almera. i have a 2006 model and i love it. it's so well designed and kitted out. the only problem is having been using a usb stick for my music, going back to just a cd player is a bit of a nuisance.
I've used halfords "will this fit my car?" link on their site and the particular one i've seen fits the car but no one can tell me how much it will cost to take off the plastic housing which holds the screen and buttons.
will i still be able to use the steering wheel controls? will the cd info come up on the screen still?
I only really want to change the cd player to get a usb player in the car.
any help/suggestions?
 
I'm afraid it wont work. You can however purchase an XCarLink to play your music on. It is a case resoldering if you want to fit a usb stereo

aw ok. cheers bud. just been to halfrauds and they confirmed the same but said i might be able to get a usb if there is a power source at the back. I presume this is what you mean as well?
 
Alternatively if you are handy with a soldering iron you solder in an ISO plug and carve out the cd player space for an aftermarket to fit
