Newbie wanting some info

Hi guys

So ive just dropped a deposit on a phase 2 almera gti a few days ago, dont pick it up till end of the week (cant wait). Was actually on the lookout for another civic vti but couldnt find any decent ones on the market atm. Started searching for one of these after seeing i could pick one up for peanuts. Went to see one, overly impressed and dropped a deposit straight away.

Now, im looking into some performance mods (im sure its been done before but i cant find anything on here) and would like to know which mods would give me good gains? exhaust manifold? cams? which cams? anyone got any links for cams as i have seen a few people do this to the gti's as a common mod. jwt s3 cams or something? any good?

it has already got an induction kit (not sure of make) and full exhaust system which POPS haha. I must say, after driving hondas since ive passed for 5 years, i am very VERY impressed with the gti. Main outline is that I'll be keeping this for a run around for the summer till july/august and then buy a civic but i reckon that may change, but we will see how it goes.

Oh and one last question. What sort of mpg are people getting from these? The guy i am buying it off said he gets about 45-50 miles to a tenner?

Hi, ebay exhaust mainfolds give good gain, as do cams. Like you say s3rs are a good drop in cam. You can go bigger, but they'll need a remap.
I used to get around 35mpg when i used a GTi as a daily.

Thanks. Was looking at ebay manifolds, they're not too steep on price, can pick one up for around 130 or something iirc. Id rather not go down the remap route as the budget is abit tight atm. If i was to get s3rs would i need a remap? What sort of gains would i be looking at with an exhaust manifold and s3rs cams? hmm 35mpg is decent
 
I would also recommend the Tomei cams... Very noticeable gains I thought. Dyno showed gains of 11bhp and 20lb/ft of torque across most of the range from the cams alone... Pretty good for a drop in!

Just another option I guess...

Yeah i've read about them aswell. Whats the best place to buy s3rs or tomy cams (or others)?
