Just wanted to say hello to everybody as i am new here.

I have sent off the membership form and cheque and im currently waiting for my membership to come through so i can get full access etc.

I own a white phase 1 Nissan Almera 1.4si which i am determined to tweak up hopefully  to 120BHP+. (eventually, if cash allows)

My current mods are quite basic, they include- BMC Cold Air Intake, CAT back exhaust system and Advanced ignition timing currently set at 16 degrees BTDC. Also partially Stripped Interior (Rear carpet, rear parcel shelf, rear seats and belts -saved me about 30kg approx :) )

oh, and Styling wise i went for 15" Black alloy wheels with polished lip and the car has been lowered on apex springs.

I am hoping that maybe some of you guys on here may have experience with the ga14de or ga16de and might be able to share some ideas to help me reach my goal. (awaiting access to tuning section but i understand there has been some sort of delay for new members)

thanks for your time,
Dale

Hey mate, one chap on here who has had his 1.6 up to around 125bhp is sri_alan, you might want to check out his car spec!

thanks for the welcome, still awaiting membership to be processed so cant access tuning section yet.
Pictures of my car will be up soon.

Sounds like you've got the right idea mate, im mid way through doing the same to my 1.6 and for some reason it's much more rewarding than when i had the GTi, the idea of being able to punch above the cars weight and have people say 'that's only a 1.6  '. Awesome.

That's why I'm sticking with my 1.5 N16 for now, to be honest I don't need GTI power; the stock 1.5 is fine for how I drive but it'll be fun to see what extra I can get out of it, especially as I got it for peanuts.

And welcome Dale!

glad to see people can see the point of tuning the smaller engines in the nissan range. thats exactly why im modding a 1.4. everyone knows a GTI is quick, but making a little 1.4 (that loves to rev to 7200rpm) pretty quick will be a bit more special IMO and will suprise a few people, as well as the satisfaction gained from gaining that extra power.

And why not - that's why I'm playing with my 1.5 N16 - who says the little guys can't have fun???

Easy (Not exactly) way of getting 20bhp... convert to a 1.6, basically a case of swapping the block and ecu over (Or so I've heard), however 1.4 gearboxes and clutches may be weaker. You can get GA16DE engines off breakers on ebay!

Yeah It would be nice to have the extra 200cc but i think im determined to leave it as a 1.4 and see how much i can get out of it . hopefully at the moment i have the equivilent of standard Sri peak horsepower (98bhp) . I had my car rolling road tested at my college as part of our course work and to my suprise it came out with 95bhp on the standard car with just a large cone filter. i have had Cat back zorst, advanced ignition timing and put a BMC on since so it should have gained a little more. I know some rolling roads arent 100% accurate so maybe give or take 5bhp, not too bad considereing it should have 85bhp. I was pleased anyway.
