Hi everyone
Will be picking up my phase 2 gti today at last will get some pics up as soon as I can.

I do have a question I,m having trouble finding some lowering springs for a phase 2 I can find loads of phase 1. Is there a difference?

Can anyone recomend some decent phase 2 lowering spings?

Cheers guys

Apex, H&R or Eibach are regarded as the best brands by AOC.

hi i got lowering spring as i purchased my car few days ago,
i am wanting normal springs. if u can come and do everything yourself i`ll be able to give them to u
cheers

Phase 2 rear shocks are different or something or other. Basically, you should buy phase 2 specific springs, or change the spring/shock combo together.

The phase 2 rear strut is a smaller diameter than the phase 1...

Basically you can buy phase 1 lowering springs, but you will need phase 1 rear shocks (the combo fits onto the phase 2)

The fronts are the same apprently...

PM Kristain as i know Kay has just had coilovers put on her car and my old lowering springs and shocks (phase 1) that were on my phase 2 might be forsale

Are the standard struts happy being lowered, on Gti's that is???? I looked at coilovers and their ridiculously expensive compared to Golfs Gti coilies which can be had for 180quid.

And how low can you go on springs, any pics of anyone with lowering springs???

Fronts are also different.

Ultimately you`re limited with lowering springs. The rears will bottom out if you go much lower than 30mm. Coilovers FTW!

Trust me if there was people wouldnt be buying them for like £700 lol i bought mine second hand for £350

I think when I was reading about the Almera one drawback seemed the lack of cheap available parts, but put it this way, just debated on few car forums about best hot hatch and the Almera is most people choice, you cant have everything but 700quid is wayyyyyy to much, 350 is too much, still cant believe you can get Golf coilies for 180quid.

The coilovers you buy for a VW are completely looks orientated and designed for the euro bummerboys to slam the shit out of their rattle canned piece of shit.
The likes of Ksport and BC Racing coilovers we use on our Almeras on this forum are in a different league to those, they're fully adjustable (ride height, damping, camber), high quality, race spec suspension, not some cheap ass malaysian tat.

You will NEVER be happy with lowering springs, they aint low enough, and they're bumpy, bouncy, boppy, all because the spring rate becomes too hard for a standard damper to compliment.

If your REALLY on a budget look
into "coilover sleeves" for the Nissan B14 Sentra on Ebay USA.. These allow height adjustment on the standard shocks, down to 100mm max. I used these for 6 months and found the handling to be better than lowering springs, and obviously better looks due to it being lowered more. The downside was, the rear shocks couldn't hack it, and I ate two sets quickly, one set being expensive KYB Excel-G Gas shocks.
I then bit the bullet and brought some used coilovers for £350, and ever since- they've been on the car, absolutely hassle free, the handling is FANTASTIC and the ride is smooth and comfortable (more comfortable than the coilover sleeves ever were!)
What more could you ask for.

They are amazing, compare to a friend with his vw Lupo gti ones (£200) they are better in every way...

One of the best modifications you can do to the almera, slamming it makes it look 1000x better :)

Lowering a car is my favourite mod, in terms of looks and you also improves handling.

Any car slammed looks 100x better than standard, but I havent had coilies and always wanted to go lower and lower and lower!!! so cant wait to adjust them everyday as my mood changes
