Hello all,

Just bought a p reg 1997, black almera GTi (totally standard) as a runaround for the Mrs, clutch is slipping and needs a service but impressed by the reports i've read on this car. I've seen the thread about tightening the clutch cable but if that is not a possibility, how much to buy and fit a new clutch?

Firstly,welcome to the site.If the clutch is slipping then thats a sure sign it's on the way out.The prices vary really depending what type of clutch you buy and how much the mechanic will charge for fitting.I had a standard one fitted a few years back and it cost me about 200 pounds fitted.
 
i had a clutch fitted at nissan and cost me 305 pounds but i couldnt find it cheaper than 280 anywere so didnt think that to bad

was that including the clutch? if so thats pretty good.

If you get a clutch get a Valeo one i paied £50 quid for it and got it fitted for £110 so £160 so thats not bad but its only a 1.4 GX

Valeo makes clutches for the Nissan they say (My Nissan Main Dealer said)
 
Thanks for all your replies, looked at the clutch on e-bay but was worried it might not be the right one when i got it, what a poof, no balls. Just got a quote from a small local garage for £240.00 for the clutch and fitting inc.VAT and £130.00 for a full service which didn't sound too bad. Hopefully it will then start driving like a GTI, vrrmmh, vrrmmh.
