NewOld Timer Almera gti owner

Old Timer from West Sussex, retired lots of time to enjoy my Almera gti.
Finally got myself one and wow its something else indeed.

yeah its had some money spent on it
big bore 4-2-1 stainless
manifold decatted but have cat for mot big bore pipe through to powerflow 4 inch exit
magnecor competition leads
just about to fit pipercross induction kit i already had and the cold air feed is already there
undersealed
apex springs
just re fitted both side skirts
yeah retired old timer who dont like going slow having recently had 9000 saab turbo and impreza but like the almera gti a lot better
attached a picture / camera date wrong but taken today

bit of paint bubble on front wing not bad but will sort it when weather better and paint bubble bottom of passenger door otherwise good
underneath as been undersealed
sound engine thats very responsive
just about to fit piper cross filter as cold air feed is in place plus made an heat shield for filter
interior very good all original
early days but what a car / surprised me
 
ive been around cars for years and i had certainly overlooked this fine car maybe because everyone raves about vw golfs which means the almera gti remains one of lifes little gems. Had Saab 9000 turbo and Impreza and the almera is certainly more nimble and quicker due to being lighter. Not sure with the decat, custom built powerflow and piper cross filter into a direct cold feed adds to the 143 bhp already there but am having to watch the speedo. That was the reason the last owner parted with it as he could not resist the < get up n go > of the almera. Certainly gets a bit of attention and by being virtually standard looking fools the traffic light cretins in chaved up tin boxes. Just love being older / growing old discracefully / is there any other way ?

Bit pointless in the state of tune its in, turbo is the easiest way to big numbers.

Cams yield good results if boost isn't your thing.
 
found out some history after tracing last but one owner and confirmed my initial thought it had been owned by enthusiast
Always good to put the real story of whats been done together and build on that for the future
 
Decided to go back to tried n tested formula of standard airbox with the K & N panel filter with front cold air feed direct from front spoiler. Previous owner had drilled a few holes in air box so used the change over to tidy up the holes which contrary to belief makes the induction roar just the same unless i am deaf. Not getting into any debate on drilled air box it was already done and car pulls really well. If it aint broke dont fix it. This was the set up previous long term owner favoured and for this engine just seemed to suit better than the new Piper Cross fitted. Always worth an experiment and suppose one engine may run better with either but timing as been advanced a tad and with K & N just suits better. Piper Cross and Concuptia adaptor gone to new owner so thats good another enthusiast gets the benefit.
