Hey

I had a bit of a problem when I tried to do this.

The wiring on the 05 style lights is a bit different to the wiring on a 2000 model. I asked couple of guys at work if it could be done and it can but it is a bit of hassle. If you have just the new headlamps you would need a whole new wiring loom to connect the lights as the connecting plug thingys (or whatever they are!) are different.

If you can manage to find the new style lights on an almera then you can cut the wires quite far back then when you fit the lights on the 2000 model you just connect the wires together and it should work. I had a bit of difficulty trying to find the new style lights with the wiring still intact, tried a few scrap yards with no luck (or they were gonna charge me a fortune for a set) so I gave up!

Wondered where you got to Lisa, thought you had fled the country or something :D

Phase 1 and 2 front light are inter-changable and fit perfectly but as Lis has pointed out the connectors are completly different.

That's not to say it's impossible, if your confident enough to do some rewiring then it would be a fairly easy job.

I think the newer car has DIS (discharge) lamps on the dipped beam. These require a capacitor in the system to "strike" them, ie to get them going, rather like the flourescent lights you find in offices. The new lights may physically fit in the older car but they will require a major change to the wiring system.

Correction to my previous post... the lights are not the discharge type. (sorry)
