Sounds like a clever, but ultimately impractical design :(

Looks like it reacts to any input that would normally be shown in the display screen so the only way to stop it doing this would be to cut the feed to the screen and put a switch in

I'd be surprised if there's an option to disable it that's not in the manual or in the on-screen instructions

The 'DISPLAY OFF' button is highlighted green in the N-Form settings, Press the 'SET' button then 'DISPLAY' and you will have a menu with 'BRIGHTNESS / CONTRAST' and 'DISPLAY OFF'.

You can change the background to black if you wish so it doesn't distract you when driving or just lower the brightness/contrast.

It should be explained in the instruments section at the front of the owners manual (if you have the correct one!).

Thanks 1.8SXE. I am aware of possibility changing contrasts and brightness. I can even choose between night (orange) and day (blue) vision. I can manually (timeout = none) switch display off. However that annoying message 'Select "Display Off" ...' is always there. It brightly shines for 5 sec or so before display is really off.

Change this and the display will not switch off, so you will not get the white screen telling you its turning off!
