I'm about to get hold of a copy of DataScan with the RS232 / Consult cable. I've done a search on the site and it appears that a couple of guys have the software installed.

The developers claim that this software allows you to view live parameters from the ECU and to adjust base settings such as the idle and timing.

Has anybody (in partuclar Markbuts as I know you have a copy :D ) used this software to good effect? Is it really as versatile and 'useful' as the developers claim?

Are most of the consult ports the same or is there different cables for different cars!
I d be interested in one of these puppies, which one would be the best to get?
Is the timing the only thing you can adjust and can you only monitor the rest of the sensors!

afaik it should fit the VZR as well if it is OBD I, only the OBD II will be different....so al Nissan ones that are OBD I will fit all the different models.... I've used mine on a number of Primeras, Almeras and a couple of Micras....

Alright thanks,i got the downloads just need to get the cable :)
But im unsure as to which cable is best,i've got a mac laptop and n15 vz-r?

hmm. wonder if there';s one of those ports on my car. I'll check in a min when I go out. could be amusing to play with lol.

what mota ya got...if its a N16 then it won't work with that.... :(

You can't adjust the timing, just put the ECU in timing/idle adjust mode. You can make temporary adjustments while it's running and do a cylinder cut test where you see how much the revs drop with each cylinder cut in turn.

Datalogging that you can play back later.

There is a speed test section in there to time acceleration.

Si, GA14DE and it does have the grey port, so if it's tested and works with a GA16DE no reason why it shouldn't work with a GA14DE.

well, it should be if we all chip in for the first copy then share it between us :D.

Actually I think I misread that site to begin with.

yup will work with the GA16....you may be able to download the older software, and maybe even the new one, but ya won't be able to use the latest new one without a proper code

You can't share the latest version, as G says you need a code to activate it.

Which leads me to the question about installing across multiple laptops / PCs.

I currently don't have a suitable laptop, so it's likely that a friend will loan me his until I buy or source another one. However, would I be able to reinstall the software onto my laptop, or would I need to apply for another activation code?

your code should work on more than one installations, if its rejected just phone their helpline and explain you had to format or something due to virus and they'll give you a new one, windows OS are the same.

No it won't as it's hardware coded...

Nobody reads anymore :P

6. I've installed the NDS software onto my desktop PC, registered and activated as prompted. I then downloaded it to my laptop but cannot activate the program. How can I activate it to my laptop.

The Activation Key is hardware specific and it's not transferable to other PCs. Every registered user is provided with 2 licenses so simply send your second Registration Code to [email protected]

I was thinking about getting one but then decided to start gbuilding my toolbox up properly...

but once i get my Greddy Emanage ultimate - would this then become usless - esp once i get the turbo engine (SR20DE to SR20DET)?
