no start

its a 1.4 5 door 1997 almera. the car is turning over but not firing also there is no ignition lights coming on in the dash. the lights, wipers, horn, flashers, radio, air blower, fag lighter are all working. i have the fuses near the battery and under the steering wheel checked and all are ok:confused: is there anything eles to check before i have to take it to the mechanic

Tried jump starting? How did you check the fuel?

If you've got any spare spark plugs, pull one HT lead out at a time, put a spark plug in the lead and rest it against the block. Unplug the injector loom and try turning the engine over. If the plug sparks, that lead is working. Pull the plugs out and check theyre not flooded too.

Have you checked that petrol is getting into the cylinders though?

My friends method is a bit haphazard but it works.

Similar to the spark test, one plug at a time out, but leave injectors plugged in, put the spark plug over the edge of the hole and plugged into the HT leads. If you turn it over and a big flame shoots out then the injector is working! Put it back in, then the next one etc. Don't do it for long periods though.

there is no power getting to the fuel pump. when i turn on the key i can usually hear the fuel pump for 3seckonds approx also no air bag light, oil light or ignition light when i turn on the key, for some reason i think its a fuse but have the ones checked as stated above just wondering if theres sone thet i cant see???

Could possibly be a NATS issue? I think Sam mentioned something about the main engine fuse - big white/transparent one in the box by the battery.

take fule line off rail coming from filter and put in a bucket turn engine over if fuel comes out then pump is fine. ht leads might be earthing out somewhwere examine them closely. i know u tried jumping it but also try bumping it

Double check the 75 amp Fuse left hand hand top corner of fuse box by the battery, and check the wiring from the postive terminal to that fuse box too.

have changed the main fuse and the wiring seem's ok. is there any wiring on the ignition that would have anything to do with switching a relay as i have power in most of the fuses under the steering but not all???
