noob and old time NPOC member - P11 GT-LE

Hi AOC,

Thought I'd drop from over at NPOC as I'm on the look out for an Almera, has been in my mind for a few years, but now funds permit. My dream is to strip and lighten for a track day car, the reality could end up being different.

No doubt will be picking your brains in time about all manor of thins Almera ;-)

Howdy. I do wonder what would make the better track car though as i hear nothing but good things for the Primera's handling.

I agree, I had a Primera Si and my god she was good round corners! I couldn't help myself driving it like a track car!

Oh, welcome along hehe! :P

Alright mate. I also use to own a P11, SE spec and it was a brilliant car. I had it three weeks and my neighbor reversed into the front end and wrote it off :(

Thanks for all the comments.

I will be bias and say the prim GT is a better handling car off the shelf compared to mera GTi. But I've never driven a Mera GTi yet so I'm just being unfoundly biased.

But I'm sure if it's not, with a few tweeks, the mera would be equally as good, plus it has less fat ;-) to carry as stock. Which with at least equal brakes should mean shorter stopping and certianly quicker on the corner exits.

Which leads me to my first question.

Can the brakes from P11 GT (280mm discs along with calipers and carriers) be swapped straight on to the Almera. ie are the hub holes that the caliper carrier bolts on to aligned the same as prim?

An N15 Almera is 4x100 so no it's not a direct swap. The calipers are also different (fyi N16 Almera hubs/calipers are the same as the P11). The guys in Australia (PGA) have done hub conversions from the N16 as an upgrade, but your easiest way would be to go for the FTO twin pot conversion. A few have done it on here with sucess.
