Noob!

Hey
I've owned my 98 VZR for about a year now and i love it! I've just been keeping it clean and looking after her, but I've been saving up for a few solid performance mods. I was thinking of starting whith having the ECU remapped and moving on from there.

Could someone explane this SR20 bottom end mod to me?

Cheers,

Welcome mate..
Get some pics of your car up :)
Also.. a ECU remap should be the icing on the cake.. the final thing you to get the best gains from any other mods you've got planned.
The SR20 bottom end swap is basically where you use either an SR20VE bottom end or a modified SR20DE bottom end in conjunction with your SR16VE head and Camshafts to create an SR20VE.. These regularly make 200+bhp and decent torque to match.

Thanks Joe ;-)

Thats great advice, I'll have some pics up soon. I'll keep you all posted as I step away from stock to street sleeper hahahaha

Hey yes i am on Driver.ie I use the same name...

Do you know anyone in the Rep. of Ireland who dose good coilovers for a VZR? in or around the €1200 mark?

Tein would be a good idea, a few places around are offical dealers for them, i think TDP would be one of them (suppose you could ask robbie himself on driver) or else murrary motorsport in Walkinstown would be another crowd.

you could have a look at a few other makes but if you've budget for it, TEIN's would be your best bet.

think there was a group by on here a few months ago for them.

Welcome to AOC, I've got TEIN Super Street coilovers which were specifically made for the VZR. They are made to order and at the time cost me around £850 ish. Although you might wanna check post recession prices. Click the link in my signature to find out more about the TEIN coilys.

Thanks for the help guys, I've been in touch with TDP in ireland and they dont have any listings for Tein coilovers on their system :-(

They suggested that the first mods could be "breathing" mods like a cat-back exhauste etc.

Any suggestions?

breathing mods you could start off with a nice exhaust, a lot of VZR's come with the nismo exhausts (which are very very rare and difficult to get) but others have opted for a kakimoto exhaust or 5zigen are quite popular.. that along with a nice manifold would hopefully see some increases.

also, as for air filters/induction kits.. a few have ones like the CAI made by BMC or else the apexi air filters (beware of fakes on the bay)
imo, i'd stick with the standard air box, with the resin box removed and put in a replacement panel filter (afaik, k & n make one)

if TDP don't have a listing for TEINS, you could email TEIN uk themselves or check out their website (www.tein.co.uk) in fact.. here is a list of the dealers for ireland

http://www.tein.co.uk/dealer/ShopSearch.cgi?country=Ireland

out of the lot, you should try robbie in ice tronix, sound bloke and should be able to source stuff for you.

hope this helps man
