Not exactly a 'Mera

Was in Wales not long ago, near Prestatyn or Rhyl i can't mind but anywho i parked up beside a rather special car i thought: -

I know it's an uber-luxurious VW but still has a REALLY nice interior - better furnished than my house! LoL

Still pretty cool i thought...

You should of let us know you were down there, only 30 mins from me.

And Scott b will tell you about a lad round here, who raced a Elise in his Dad's GT. Was so funny.

Would've mate but my internet's kinda like the british weather - Sun's turned on for the summer and turned off for the other 364 days... :rasp:

Was an interesting drive to say the least - i thought scotland had steep inclines!! Near enough burnt out my clutch and further homed in that i need a more powerful car

Nothing more depressing when you're holding up a tractor trying to haul a church up a hill in 1st with the engine screaming it's head off :(

Well miracles do happen - problem being they tend to happen for things that don't need it...

For example i would prefer the miracle of £1,000,000 suddenly appearing in the bank account rather than the N16's gearbox not giving in...

However i got a courtesy email from Japanese Used Cars about an enquiry i made ages ago about a VZR and prices do look tempting

But how many times have i said that? I'm just gonna wait til i've got the loan paid off, pay someone to take it cos i doubt anyone will wanna spend anything beyond £12.63 for it and then get another loan for something half decent...

After much delibaration with new cars vs old cars, jap vs french, cheap running costs vs ball wrenching performance i'm gonna stick in house and get another 'mera

If i absolutely have to have another N16, it'll prob be either the 1.8 or, preferably, the 2.2 dCi. But i'll wait and see what happens with the Jap Import side of things

Do NOT get another N16, don't matter how reliable it may be. You don't wanna be in the same boat.

Get a N15, don't matter how old it is. It's made in the glory days when they actually gave a damn about the engineer'ing side of a car.

I did wonder where you'd gone as well actually, good that you're back. :)

And yeah those GTs are nice, not really "my" kinda car, but I respect 'em. They seem bloody fast as well, I've had one alongside me on a multi-lane road when I was getting slowly overtaken by a Volvo or something, Bentley with a BMW 330D up his ass, being held up by Volvo, simply takes off as soon as it had moved. Hardly made any noise either, so it may well have done that without trying. Impressive for something that weighs as much as a 4x4. BMW skipped past obviously quickly too, but even its diesel oomph was crushed by 550bhp, several car lengths of domination were applied pretty much instantly...

Yeah suppose but like i says it just all depends what's on offer at the time when i'm hunting for a new set of wheels...

Might get a UK GTi, might get an Autech of some variety, might get a VZR, might get a cheap N16 and splurge some dosh on it - who knows?

LoL knowing my sense of luck i'll probably be in a Kia Picanto or something

Forgive my ignorance, & I`m not having a go here, but haven`t you posted exactly the same thread/pic before, with exactly the same "better than my house" line, about a year ago, or was that someone else?

Like I say, I`m not having a go Paul & if it wasn`t you I appologise, It`s just I`m certain I`ve seen that pic/description before.

small world, a lad in work knows the owner of the elise or his mate or something like that, sure he said the lad in the GT refused to race him until he bet £500, wish i had seen that.

doubt it was in rhyl, would be up on bricks or burnt out within 10 minutes of parking up

Who the hell would race an Elise in a GT!? Unless it was around a bypass at 3am, or in the pissing wet...

You pull up to the line you race anything, he ended up against the Elise.

Too many sensors and controls holding the GT back from launching.

So he got beaten in a STRAIGHT line by an Elise, that's even worse, must be felt a nob. It must have been a fast Elise though and/or a pretty short distance...

elise are super lightweight and about 190bhp, could easily hold it to 80. i beat a boxster s to 85 in mine.
paul get an autech, dont bother with a vzr, autechs cheaper/easier to insure and faster
