occasional stalling

My daughter has X reg almera 1.5e. it tends to stall when approaching junction or roundabout, car is fully serviced and as yet no mechanic has fixed this problem, they allways say it needs servicing. Car runs like new, this problem is not every day, but sometimes every junction. Any ideas please dont want to simplt throw money to mechanics. Many thanhs.

Not another N16 problem :( , Makes me appreciate my 'older' N15 more and more

Just hope its not the stretched timing chain problem the 1.5 commonly has

So has it been recently serviced? to clarify

Any engine management lights come on at all?

Awaits the N16 commandos

Why would it be a stretched timing chain? Its MAF related, this problem does occur on N15s and alot of other cars, usually in colder weather and when aftermarket air filters have been put on.

Exactly alan!

Eddie, suprised you didnt tell him to sell it and buy an N15 *rolleyes*!

The problem described sounds to me like a MAF (mass air flow meter) fault, same thing happens to mine. Very intermitant, but as you say it can happen everytime you stop!

You could try a secondhand MAF from a scrappy or bite the bullet and get a new one!

Cheers

If its approaching junctions and roundabouts, thats when you're on the brakes, so with the vacuum assist on the brake master cylinder and the decrease in revs probably means the engine goes lean and stalls as the MAF isnt correctly calculating the amount of air in the intake? Thats how I understand it anyway.
