Oil leak!

Was asking here about common oil leaks on the Gti people said oil filter loose/sump gasket etc. anyway jacked her up today removed plastic covers and it was oily all around the front and rear of the sump and around the bottom pully so i cleaned all down and left it running for 2 hours and nothing and also turned it off cause it only seems to do it after driving there would be one or two small drops on the ground right under the corner twords the front right of the sump say betweem the crank pully and the aircon unit. could it be the timing cover i wonder or just oil around the engine from removing the oil filter on previous sevicing as i taught there should be a rubber tube coming from under the oil filter pan down twords the ground but if so its gone off mine cause when i remove my filter oil covers the back of the engine.
any ideas for me???? :wall:
or is it too small of a leak to be getting enoyed about...

Sounds like possibly a leaking crank seal, only shows up once driven as the engine is put under load

well i stripped the car today to fit my new crank seal and everything went wrong i was trying to remove the crank pully and no way would it come so i put a 10mm bolt in one of the treaded holes in the pully and screwed it in to extract the pully and i put a hole in my timing cover just under where the crank seal goes what a bummer i didnt think it would be that soft and i had no pullers. iv done a lot of the N16 timing chains and never had this hardship. also the seal was wrong that i got off nissan. could i alloy weld the hole i wonder???

ooops! Hard luck mate. You should have asked before you did that, i remember someone else did that on here and had to replace the whole front cover. If you`d paid the subscription and searched it may have saved you alot of money.

You need a rear crank seal.

my friend is a alloy welder and he is going to try fix it. anyone ever done this and wat price is a new cover if it comes to it

Well guys got my timing cover fixed and new seal in all is well. small weld and then smooth down the weld on the small hole left it back 100% just as well cause a new timing cover here is 600euro and thats trade price too me so i got away light my friend done it for me.
thats wat i get for not using a pullers i should have known better been a nissan mechanic for years.
