what oil would you reacomend for a 97 phase one Gti?

dont know what to use in her so i though id ask the experts! lol ;)

and what make of oil would you reacomend??

I used nissan oil for the first time yesterday, and it appears to have made the engine a bit noisier. Normal?

Have always used mobil1 previously.
 
hmm...have you checked the level again since you've been driving it around? Mine usually needs a bit of a top up...other than that I don't know to be honest, might just be that you're listening for it since you used a different kind of oil, expecting it to sound different. Wouldn't worry about it unless you start getting warning lights tbh.

even the semi synthetic? always used it in mine but been considering upgrading to something a bit better recently, but if the mobil 1 semi is good then ill stick with it, doing changes every 1k (complete overkill but old engine etc so piece of mind), would make an expensive oil seem very very expensive when id be buying it every month.
