I purhased the car at the start of June and only owned it 8 days.

on the 1/6/06, i did send away for the logbook.

However I did keep hold of the car - as it wasnt suitable. I sold it privately on 10/6/06. On the date 10/06, I filled out the logbook for the newer however didnt think of checking with the DVLA that it wasnt in my name later on that month.

This morning I recieved a speeding fine from lancashire for an offense I did not commit. I contacted the DVLA, to my amazment I was still the keeper, so I am notifying them now to remove me once again (In writing and by registered post).

I have returned the slip to the police stating i was not the driver, rang the box to say it was sold and gave the dates. However I could not fill out the name of the driver or address, I have been told they will investage this.

I know that the end of the day its still points the finger at me, as I was registered - but not driving the car. There was a photo, but it was a back end photo, and they cannot make out who was driving.

Where do I stand? Can anyone help?

Im not too sure but you do not need to worry about it. it was not you in the car and you don't own the car and as long as u have something to prove you sold it then its all good.

Anyway, you should have filled out the new owners details on the green section of the V5 and then sent that to the DVLA. If you can prove when you sold it then I think you'll be okay. Same thing happened to a guy at my work, he got a fine through the post from some area called Dorset or somewhere in England, somewhere he'd never been anyway and he's got off with it.

Thx, well I have informed DLVA they will remove me from the records. as proof there is the action number on ebay. The sale itself was cash and a witten receipt, unfortunatly the receipt is lost. (After 3 months I thought it had gone for goo).

What made it difficuult was :
I obtained the car start of June, sent off only had the new keep supliement, so this was all I was able to advise new keeper that he would need to apply. I assumed now 3-4 months down the line its done and dusted! I have told DLVA its been lost (Maybe the other person wasnt bothered to apply).

they are bound to need it for MOT / TAX as tax is due in a month on it, if memory serves me.

To be honest way I see if nothing can be proved at this stage.
