Opinions on Sony MEX-BT2500 please.

I ain t a fan of sony head units the amplifiers are inferior to other makes! Maybe it is worth it as it has bluetooth though! They are ok if u just want tunes rather than a big phat install hahaha

Yeah, I`m not an install person (plus, I need my boot :) ) I just need summat to replace the CASSETTE player that`s in there now.

If they`re a decent `normal user` I`ll deffo get one.

Just wanted to make sure I wouldn`t be wasting money.

i had 2 sony head units, (1 standard, 1 not) and both worked fine for me, the standard one must have been 10 years old when i took it out and it worked fine, did everything you could expect etc, got an alpine one now though and the difference is immediately obvious, much clearer sound and even with crap speakers the quality is so much better.

the name means more than anything with audio imo, sony are like the middle of the line but seem very reliable and user friendly, couldnt fault the 2 i had as they did everything they were supposed to do and never gave me any problems but the difference is obvious with the higher end head units.

worth considering that one imo, in the store i work thats the one powering the speakers on the audio board and it sounds great, doesnt have bluetooth though but you could always use another hands free kit.

Thanks for the info Jim. :)

I was looking @ the Bluetooth kits, then glanced @ the H/Us & noticed some had Bluetooth, so I`d rather "kill 2 birds with 1 stone", as funds are a bit tight @ the mo, & as this is the cheapest one, wondered if it was any good.

bluetooth 2 is backwards compatable so yes, it will work.

Also worth checking out the bluetooth Pioneer ones too.

If I were you i'd pick a HU you like and get a parrot CK3100 bluetooth handsfree, i picked one up off ebay for 60 notes and its excellent, it comes with a control box that your headunit gets connected to, takes about 45 mins all in to fit and its dead easy tbh, plus you can change your hu if you want and don't need to make sure it has Bluetooth etc. It mutes your hu when u make a call or recieve and the quality is great. Highly reccomended.

I'm going to take some pics of mine and where its installed this week.

I don't like Sony headunits... I realaced my £300 Sony with a £100 Pioneer and the sound quality it better...

Try this it's only £20 more...

..or if your determined to get the Sony, the same site as it for £119.99.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Got the Sony last weekend from Damo-sris work, & they fitted it on Bank Holiday Monday!

I`m not really into ICE, so as long as I can hear the traffic reports, & it does what I need it to, I`m happy.

Will get a pic @ the weekend.

sound wise, sony are way behind with head units right now. I've always said that for HUs I'll stick with alpine for their functionality and sound quality. After all, alpine make nothing but car install stuff, so I can only assume to be thriving as they are, they're pretty good at it.

I've never been a fan of Alpine stuff, hate teh buttons and the displays and stuff on them, always think their stuff is overpriced
