Original fit tyres for the GTi?

Hi all,

What were the original brand of tyres used on the GTi - ie what tyres were the chassis settings tuned around?

When I got my GTi it had two Goodyear Eagle NCTs and two Michelin Pilot Sports, however there was a spare in the boot with a Goodyear Eagle NCT on, so does that imply it's those?

I have Goodyear Eagles but I think its just because they are common and reasonably cheap, perhaps someone knows for sure....
