P10 Nissan Primera ZX engine...

Hi guys.

Today I got an offer to buy P10 Primera ZX complete engine with gearbox, loom and ECU. Engine is RED TOP.

Can anyone give me any details regarding BHP, torque and swap possibility to Almera GTi?

Engine is still in the car and one thing I've noticed was rev clock scaled to 9000 rpm.

150bhp high port engine, rev limit is about 7.5k clocks go to 9k like you said. same engine that autech used as a base to tune up

150ps/148hp iirc.
It revs to over 7k ....more than the RRsr20 anyway.
It`s an old engine now, i wouldn`t fit one without a re-build.

My engine is fine. The reason I'm asking is: does it make any sense? Is few BHP more worth considering, 200 pounds and swap hassle? Which engine is better for further modifications - GTI or that redtop?

It depends but with the High Port Red top the variety of camshaft up grades is enormous compared to the Almera Roller Rocker SR20

There's not even that much power to be had from the GTiR individual throttle bodies as they are small and more suited to forced induction.

Not worth the hassle imho, but it`s your money and time.

Why not just use the head?.....you`ll just have to swap a few sensors around rather than a complete engine.

Rowdy talks sense.

The head would give you the wide cam options.

But its unconfirmed if any of that is justified.. Look at GTi Kurt's recent engine thread.

The high port head does flow better, but thats not to say the GTi one is rubbish. f you were planning thousands of pounds of upgrades then yes, the head would be better suited, but to a lightly tuned road car then your original lump should be fine.

not worth bothering unless you're doing the work yourself and, as corbs says you're planning a lot in the future. from what i understand there's quite a few differences, it'd by no means be a straight swap

iv got a 200sx head for sale for £100 that would give you the same cams and rocker less head :P would give you the same pwoer wihtout having to even take the head off!!

dont break it, there stupidly rare now, literally see a few a year and thats not just in the flesh, even on ebay etc they just dont come up, if i could get another garage i would buy it and save it.

makes no sense to me, if you know your current engine is ok then stick with it, alot of messing around for an unknown engine, plus it would create a hell of a lot of headaches.

cant beat 7500rpm though
