Painting Heatsheild

I am thinking of painting my heatsheild, do I need to use special paint or can I use normal car paint with a couple of coats of laquer??

I'd say use special paint...it's very close to the manifold which gets incredibly hot, so I'd say normal paint would flake off and discolour eventually. Its better to be overkill than have to redo it!

Did my heatshield on the Si with the halfords manifold paint in red, it smells like it's burning for a couple days then it's fine. Does the job, doesn't discolour a lot.
