will a performance exhaust on a diesel sound absoloutly rediculus or not??? my mates seem to think it wont. if so any 1 got a good reasonablty priced exhaust suggestions (below £150) cheers
I've heard a big exhaust on a 306 Turbo Diesel and that sounded ok. Just a bit louder and chuggy if you know what I mean...sounded ok though. It's nowhere near as loud as a petrol though which is probably a good thing!
since your not far away from newcastle, go to Advanced Automotive Systems on scotswood road industrial, exhausts from there are quality. I couldn't fault mine in any way.
A mate of mine had a cat back stainless system on a seat cupra diesel, sounded strange but nice, really crisp turbo noise, hard to explain.
But certainly made a performance difference, and obviously looked nicer than the standard twin mild system.
I had a straight through system on my old 306 DT (mechanical), it sounded fine. quite deep and bellowy tho. Sounded like a mental transit van really, a lot more diesely. I also had a powerflow rear box on my Megane DCi (bum shape) and it was silent.
i used to have a 5" jap style universal exhaust on my old escort ghia tdi n it sounded like a tank, when u reved it the sound of it waas beefy but not petrol beefy loud....when it was idling all u heard was a loudish rumble and loud whistle from the turbo....if i cant sell my passat then im gonna get a 5" twin universal can on it.
