I got my Almera a month ago - 1998 5 door an N15 i think.

What I wnat to do is put in a cd player and keep the steering wheel stem controls working - what are my options and hoe difficult is it to change. I'm not very experienced with Car electrics

I will be very grateful for any help you can offer me guys

Apart from the obvious ignorance that newbie's possess with regard to: -

Instead of introducing yourself (i.e. Hi my name's [doo dah] and i've got an N16 VZR thingy :D ) rather than just saying (OMG! I'm a noob - HELP ME!!!)

Regardless of this i'll help  cos im SO nice

My work deals with them sometime and i know they offer something similar...

look to pay around 42 quid for an auto-leads item or similar for the conects2 item as said above. Comes in 2 parts, one lead plugs into the car harness and has a small black box fitting which converts the nissan signal to a signal of your chosen headunit brand i.e jvc or sony. The second part of the lead set connects from this box to the 'steering remote ready' input on the headunit. Make sure the unit you buy is steering remote ready otherwise you wont be able to make it work. Hope this helps.

I assume you mean its a Sony remote stalk if it's a N15?

If so, most Sony headunits will work. If you're getting a Pioneer etc. then it wont work I'm afraid.

I put a new sony unit in mine about 6 months ago and all the controls on the stalk work. There are a couple of makes such as jvc i think which use the same plug for steering column remotes but i couldn't say if they would work or not.
