Please help

Have ordered a new engine for my GTi, when it arrived I noticed oil filter was in the wrong place and the inlet is slightly different. Spoke to the guy at the place I bought the engine from and he said the P1 almera GTis have the filter in a different place and a different inlet.

Have now had a good check over and pulled my car to pieces, only to have a better look at the new engine and find that the sump is also different, along with the top engine mount, the head and block have different stamps on them..

Can anyone help with engine codes etc?

The new one is stamped 53j on the block and all other stamps are also different.

The code on the block after SR20 also has a W at the end on myold engine but not my new one.

Am I being silly?

Its not an almera GTi engine, although a SR20DE. Got any pics and we`ll try and work out what you got. Must be a primera engine.

Has the oil filter simply been relocated by the previous owner?

Or, (more likely) going by the different top mount, have they sent you a RWD engine by mistake?

Put a pic up, so we can see what`s what.

Nope and nope.

Cam lobe has NOTICABLY less lift-duration !!!

injectors wrong colour. Sump looks uber-wrong.

Engine mount twice the width

Looks a dirty old engine.

It might even be a low powered SR20De........

We need some input of some NPOC guys ( Mark ;) )

Thats what I was thinking.

Stamping indicates a 2000 engine.

Didn't all decently powered primeras have coloured rocker covers too?

It`s not out of a Tino or Maxima (or whatever other models had them) is it?

That looks VERY strange!

The inlet looks wierd as well, for some reason.

looked on SR20 forum to no avail, only JDM and USDM codes on there.

I reckon dale may be on the money. Really not happy about this.

Looks like it and the yr would match as well. They have less power than the GTi engine. You need a refund.

I've had 3 P1 GTis and 4 SR20DEs (One of which was out of a P2 GTi) and he's talking shite. They are identical.

Can't believe the blokey lied to me on the phone.

Was a reputable place as well, found on parts gateway and they def had a GTi because I've got the wheels sat next to my GTi!!!

Really really annoyed. Payed a LOT for this engine.

The parts gateway is simply a network of breakers.
When looking for the P11-144 gearbox, one company sent me the wrong gearbox after grilling him on it. They had said they get this request all the time and they know the difference. Only to find they sent me a P11. Took me 6 months for them to arrange refund and pickup! Don't let the Nissan logo on the website phase you. - in most case you'll know more about the part than they do. Noticeable as they only go by Reg plate and Model name, especially when they start asking for photos!

If they get funny about arranging a pickup (i.e they take ages), you may need to send it back yourself before you can ask the VISA card people to chase them on your behalf. As thats what I had to do.

Aye, but with 100% feedback etc you expect the right part and not to be lied to on the phone.

Now going to be left without a car for god knows how long.

Yeah tell them it wont fit in which it clearly wont without fooking about which you dont need. Send it back!
