The other day i went to work in my car as normal!
On the way i noticed the car started to shake when i put my foot down , its never done this before !
i dont have a clue to what is causing it!?

it feels like a minor judder you get as if your goin to stall ,only does it when accelerating above 40ishmph ,in all gears other than 1st....

can anyone please give me any ideas as to what it could be?and how i can fix it!
 
Misfire? Try leaving the engine running, then pull out and replace the HT leads one at a time, if when you pull it out, the engine starts to struggle, then that cylinder isnt misfiring. if the engine note stays the same when you pull the lead out then that cylinder isnt firing.
 
nah iv had this problem before as well on two of my past gti's and always was one of the two problems

1st - maf sensor
2nd - exhaust system blocked.

if its the mass air flow sensor (maf) then does your car judder suddenly then the revs go low and then sometimes too high say like if your pulling up to traffic lights and the revs randomly goes up to 1500 rpm ????

if its the exhaust blockage try to take cat off firts and check for blockages should have a fine mesh pattern when looking through the cat.if its not that then its the back box.do you get a block of acceleration when putting your foot down ?? probably most often the back box has come apart inside and its blocked it up trapping the fumes in hence the block in acceleration

check both things as there both linked really when cats blocked maf sensor tends to let in more air hence initail block of accelartion then the to much air is making the mixture air rich hence stalling

just a guess though going on previos experience

Not the MAF cleaned that few weeks ago , i know the joint on the back box is blowing but thats beeen doing that for a while!

As for the plugs ive changed them a few weeks ago aswel! tried what Corbs said and got a fucking great electric shock ! and it runs like a bag of nails and sounds like a beetle! shouldnt be petrol either ! only used super recently!
put some STP system cleaner in a while back !

do you reckon it might be old engin oil?

will check the lambda in a bit! bit hot at the moment!
 
its not the old GA series 2.5k - 3.5k rpm judder is it?!

edit: i suggest plugs leads lambda or fuel filter never been changed .
 
na, its not the judder thing!

changed plugs last week ,odering a new lambda and had new fuel filter may 07 so ordereing one of them now aswel!

you dont reckon it could be warped discs?
