can some one help with my new wheels ,just new 17"alloys the tyres are 205,40,17 they look the biz
but they make a hell of a noise when i am driving ,it is at its worst at around 30 mph
it sounds like they are rubbing on something ,but have checked all that and there is plenty of clearance
you cant feel any vibration inside the car
and the car is totally standard 1998 gti

dont no the width of the wheels or the offset
they came off a primera
the noise is constant

take your wheel back off and check there not rubbing ob your calipers. i had aftermarket wheels on my audi, they were ok until i changed the brakes and brought it all wider to the wheels, then they rubbed.
was a case of were the wheel meets the disk on the car, the wheel face was bigger the the face of the disk and touching the pads.

How wide are the wheels ??

i thought 205 would give a clue as to the width of the wheel's??

you shouldn't have a problem with these size of wheels on an almera, one of you're brake's could be sticking a bit? wheel bearing?

17" rim's also make more road noise than standard 15"?

just put standard wheels back on an the noise has gone
it was only comin from the front
the 17s on the back are fine

have you checked the back of the wheels and the calipers for rubbing??

No, that's the tyre size, not the wheel size.

Could be anywhere from 5.5" to 9.5" with that size tyre. They should only be fitted to 7"-8.5" wheels but you never know.

It's just Im getting 16"x7" wheels in a few months, and was finding it hard to get 205 wheels, and was wondering if 215 are better. Which it looks like they are. Cheers.

Would get wider, but the wheels only go to 7" in 16's.
