problem with revs and engine warning light

Hi ALL

2004 nissan almera s 1.5 petrol

doing 120kph on motorway last week

felt a shudder in car when i pressed accelerator and the revs dropped

didnt lose power completely but had to go right down to 80kph and came off motorway.

limped home at this speed, stopped car for about 20 minutes then drove it and it was fine.

took it out today and same thing happened on motorway accelerating up to 120kph, car shuddered like something had blown in the engine, revs dropped. got it back home, engine warning light is on, checked oil level and its fine.

if i punch the accelerator the revs flatten out at about 3000 and i have to do all my accelerating in 2nd and 3rd just to get it to do 80kph.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what it might be?

thanks

Hi

The same thing happened to me two weeks ago. Took it back to a NIssan dealer and they said it was broken camshaft and crankshaft sensor. They replaced both and my 2005 Almera is back up and running.

I'm no expert, don't know jack about cars but just saw this and figured it was the same as mine. My engine light on the dash lit up on the way to work. On the way home it dropped from 40mph to 20mph and the engine just wouldn't rev in gear (in neutral it was no problem) ...

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
