To be fair on Tim that thread is in the 'Junkyard' forum which is not supposed to be Almera related...so you wouldnt automatically go there for questions about your Almera. It should be in the Other Almera Discussion forum really.

well mate youd probably be better off getting yourself some gti struts buddy, as you will gain a noticable difference in handling and you wont have to fuck about removing your struts to fuck about with them possibly bodging it any way .

YOu can do it but i can tell you now, dont bother i had a long bolt snap on mine and i manage to get a bolt from halfords but i had to take the strut apart to change it. your better off getting yourdelf a set of gti shocks and putting them on.
Chop the problem lump out of the strut brace.

Yup chop that off, it's not going to make any difference to it's function, and it'll save a lot of time.
