I have a problem I hope can be solved by your members. My Nissan Almera 1.6 LUX-2003 has an irritating rattle by the front wheels when going over slightly rougher sections of tar or on gravel roads. I was told by the local garage that it could be the calipers that are causing it.Any suggestions would be helpfull. I also have a type of shudder by my feet when pulling away i.e. releasing the cluch pedal in first gear. Any advice will be very helpfull. Thanx

My GTi does this too. It's very annoying.

The only way I've found of stopping it is to coat the rear of the brake pads in copper grease.

Also check that you have the full hardware/fitting kit installed. I think I'm missing some sort or anti-screech pad thats giving it room to move.

could have lost a pad retaining spring (if their are any). You can get magnetic caliper pistons too, where from I've no idea.

brake pads

you will be missing your anti rattle clips mate
you should have 2 clips for each side
what tends to happen is when muppets
service the cars at some garages they throw the old
pads away with the clips on not good as you know as it makes a right noise
i think you will need to get the clips from nissan as i am
sure they are main dealer only hope this helps :)

On the same subject, i have a noise coming fromy my front right wheel everytime i go over a bump, got lowered suspension and low pro's and the noise is only just started to appear. Just replaced my break pads and noise was there before so can't be that and everything fine with the pads. The only thing i think it could possible be is that few months ago i went to Tesco to pump tires up with the machine and accidently put the hose for water not air over my valve (same tire) but can't remember pushing the button, realised what i did, took it of and then used the air one (arsehole i know but was late at night and half asleep) so you think it could water in the tire with what i can only describe as a squelching (sp?) noise, any ideas?

is it a squeaky kinda noise or a tap/rattle? I get a squeaky noise on teh front left of my mera becasue the rubber boot on the suspension is split.
