Rear Seat Belt Rust!

Whilst looking in the boot i noticed rust around where the passenger side seatbelt unit is bolted too. Its not exatcly where the unit it but next to it ive managed to poke my finger through it.

Can the area have a plate welded over it or do i need to get a hole new panel!

Here a couple of pics!

Any comments will be very appreciated!

I keep meaning to check mine, considering the state the sills were in and the fact its a 96 i'm expecting some nice flakes.

I say depending on how widespread the rust is you may be able to get away with just having a plate welded in

I got mine done last week, just 2 plates welded on, the bolt for the seatbelt goes into the frame of the car (not just the plate if that makes sense), and thats what my plates were welded too. If I remember I'll get a pic up tonight.

Can't help you with a price tho, as the guy did it for nowt

needs more than a plate from what i can see.

Yah i agree mate i hardly have anyone else in the back anyways!

Any idea apart from nissan where id get a new panel?

i think everyone should start cleaning their arches out, mines one of the very first almeras, sold in october 1995 which is when they were released iirc and both sides are completely solid, can only assume its down to it being kept clean but then the primera has proven to me that cars can rust anywhere no matter how clean you keep them so maybe it is just something mines avoided so far?

crap, forgot to take pics

here's what mines was like.

After i took that i poked a hole in it with ma finger

Also, the seatbelt bolt goes into the chassis, its not just bolted through the plate. It's still ok. The guy who welded mine welded it to that too. Its in two bits.

ooft, just checked mine

cheered me up for the day :D
